Domain Name Tips
Your domain/URL/address (They’re all the same thing) is how people are going to access your website, it’s very important that you get it right. Here are some tips from All Domain Tools, hopefully they will assist you in purchasing the right domain for your business.
Think Short
It sounds obvious but you’ll be amazed how many people buy huge domains. People have to remember hyphens, spellings and they can often get it wrong. If your company is called Interactive Fuse Network, why not condense it to IFN? What do you think people would prefer to type out, ifn.com or interactivefusenetwork.com?
Spelling
Your telling your friend about your website and he’s going to check it out when he goes home. Is he going to be able to spell it correctly? You need to have something that’s easy to spell, it will help people remember your site.
Try not to abbreviate
Changing spellings of words can damage your search engine rankings and confuse your visitors. there are some cases in which this would be acceptable but on the whole it’s best to stick to real words.
Try to avoid hyphens
They make it hard for people to remember. Your site domain needs to be memorable.
.com, .net etc or country domain?
Do you target the world or one country? If it’s just one country buy the country domain, that way you will get listed in local directories. If you target the world buy a .com, .net etc.
